Amlou - Moroccan Argan PasteRegular price $14.95
Also known as Amalou or Argan spread (Almond Butter with Argan Oil and Honey)
Amlou is a rare treat from Morocco. It is a blend of Almond butter, Argan Oil and Orange Blossom honey.
Amlou is typically eaten at breakfast time or served after a meal, especially with tea. It is excellent as a spread on bread or beghrir (semolina pancakes) as well as traditional pancakes. Our favorite way to eat it is with pita bread or a french baguette with Cafe Au Lait.
Amlou is commonly used by certain Berber tribes of Morocco for pastry making. It was consumed by the nomads who crossed the desert. It is a famous aphrodisiac that is traditionally kept in the bedroom of those that could afford it and is a often given as a very special wedding gift to newlyweds.
Argan Oil - Body, Face, HairRegular price $29.95
Argan Oil - CulinaryRegular price $29.95
Argan Oil: The word is out - of the wonderful health and beauty benefits this rare and exotic oil possesses. Since the Argan Tree grows only in one place in the world - the South of Morocco, it's supplies are limited. In recent years, the Argan tree has been threatened by social and climatic factors, such as increased agriculture and over exploitation. By using an accredited all-women cooperative network as its sole supplier, we play a role in helping to support the integration of women in Moroccan society and encourage local communities to conserve and expand the Argan forest.
The difference between culinary and cosmetic (raw) oil is in the processing of the nuts. The nuts of the culinary oil are first lightly roasted to bring out the characteristic nutty flavor and aroma that makes it so highly sought after. These are then cold-pressed.
The nuts of the cosmetic (raw) oil are simply cold-pressed. There is virtually no flavor or aroma in the cosmetic grade of Argan Oil. Zamouri Spices does not refine our Argan Oil, so it is edible.
Argan Oil is a rare culinary delight found only in the south of Morocco used for seasoning more than cooking. It is prized for its unique delicate nutty flavor added at the end of the cooking process to infuse flavor to couscous, lentils, beans, chickpeas, rice and vegetables. Drizzle over tomatoes, zucchini, and peppers to infuse amazing flavor. Excellent as a healthy salad dressing. For an easy, exotic breakfast, heat Argan Oil in a skillet and scramble your eggs as usual.
For over a decade, Zamouri Spices has been importing Argan Oil in small batches to insure our customers always enjoy the freshest, purest oil.

Harissa PasteRegular price $12.95 Sale price $10.95 Save $2.00
Our Harissa Paste is made with chilies vine-ripened to peak flavor perfection and flown to our facility to make each hand-crafted batch from scratch. But, when the chilies run out, so does the Harissa! We use the same recipe that the Zamour tribe of North Africa has passed down from generation to generation (thank you, Grandma!). Fresh chilies? Yes! Fresh garlic? Yes! Preservatives or additives? Ewww! No! That isn't very authentic.
But: what is Harissa?
Harissa,a fiery paste, is popular throughout North Africa. In Morocco, it is served as condiment or dip at the table in a small dish with a spoon. Harissa Paste is often stirred into tagines and couscous to emit its distinct chili taste and intense slow burn. It pairs well with all meats - chicken, beef and lamb - for grilling or roasting. Soups and stews are given a little kick up in flavor by adding as little as a teaspoon. In Tunisia and Algeria, it is often stirred into salads and cooked vegetable dishes to give a characteristic red color. We recommend adding to casseroles, saffron-flavored fish soups and stews. Add as a base for poached eggs. Use in your favorite recipe or as a hot sauce to spice up your favorite foods (such as scrambled eggs).
